MOORE spuds its first well in Soufflenheim

MOORE Energy's subsidiary Millennium Geo-Venture SAS (MGV) is the co-owner with Geopetrol SA of the Soufflenheim exploration license in Alsace.

As operator of the license MGV commenced operations in February 2014 on the SFH-1 well in the Soufflenheim Field. SFH-1 will be the first hydrocarbon well to be drilled in the Alsace region in the last 15 years.

The SFH-1 exploration well is targeting the known hydrocarbon bearing Glaswinkel and Beinheim formations. The objective of this data gathering well is to allow the license holders to better evaluate the remaining potential of the Soufflenheim Field which previously produced 460,000 barrels of oil from 1954-1968.

MGV spudded the well on 12 March 2014 and completed the tophole section before temporarily suspending the well. The bottomhole reservoir section is planned to be drilled within the end of July 2014. The information gathered from the well will be evaluated and the well will be put on long term testing should it be warranted.
